“WHO ARE YOU? YOU, WHO PERFUME DIAMONDS!”
When I first joined Cartier, I was impressed and enthralled by this
remark made by Princess Bibesco to Jeanne Toussaint. When I started working
around the theme of diamonds, the quote became an obsession.
For me, coming from the world of fragrance and its history - religious
and artistic - Princess Bibesco meant that Cartier brought diamonds to life. So
very often in both these areas, fragrance becomes the embodiment of living. Cartier brings diamonds to life by showcasing them so stunningly, by
introducing light and making it scintillate and shimmer. It is this play of
light that so moves us!
I wanted to create a fragrance that sparkles, alive with all the fire of
a diamond. It occurred to me to apply to the fragrance the principle of diffraction:
the dispersed light that appears as colourful flashes of the rainbow in a
diamond. I wanted to create a fragrance that sparkles, alive with all the fire of
a diamond. And so, I chose seven beautiful fresh flowers that come together to form
a new flower, abstract but alive, like the light of a diamond.
Carat is for me a perfumistic ode to light. I am delighted to share with
you my vision of fire in a fragrance, and, as Cartier does, to make the wearer
sparkle and shine, with olfactory emotion.

“A FRAGRANCE THAT SPARKLES,
ALIVE WITH ALL THE FIRE OF A DIAMOND ”
Carat, the new fragrance by Cartier, brings together the seven colours
of the rainbow in a single, clear and pure white scent akin to the fire of a
diamond. A floral rainbow with an olfactory spectrum that infinitely diffuses.
Violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red are represented here
by violet, iris, hyacinth, ylang, daffodil, honeysuckle and tulip. Floral tones
create a rainbow of colours in a layering of olfactory hues.

From excess to refinement, from the multitude to the unique, Cartier
Carat Eau de Parfum is diamond fire transposed to the olfactory realm.
Cartier Carat is an invitation to pluck the flowers of the day. To sense
and feel every facet of happiness as it comes, to smile and laugh at life,
awake, conscious and present.
The moment is radiant, illuminated by the pure fire of a flower whose
springtime joy is amplified by Mathilde Laurent.
Which flower? A living flower, an explosion of pleasure, utterly fresh
and close to nature.
Gleeful molecules charged with crystalline power.
Carat. Invisible jewellery, its two syllables ring pure and true as a
fragrance crafted to send the heart a-flutter.
It captures the light, diffracting all the colours of the prism and
mirroring the multiple reflections of its clean-cut glass facets.

clear white to rainbow hues, a holographic projection of colourful vibrations.
Pared down to the essentials: the fire of diamond and the surprise of a
crystalline cap that clicks open with one hand.
