On the evening of May 19th, Jaeger-LeCoultre welcomed distinguished guests to its boutique in Kuwait’s 360 Mall. Over 50 clients and collectors attended the event to celebrate the legend-filled journey of Jaeger-LeCoultre from its origins over 180 years ago in the Swiss Jura Mountains, to an integrated Manufacture that continues to deliver on a unique tradition in fine watchmaking: the tradition of invention, precision and refinement.
Welcoming guests was Chief Executive Officer Daniel Riedo; International Executive Director Jerome Favier and Middle East Brand Director Marc de Panafieu. Other guests included members of the Behbehani family and several prominent figures of the Kuwait watch collector community.
In this 2015 collection, Jaeger-LeCoultre shared its fascination for the movements of the heavenly bodies, drawing upon these inexhaustible sources of inspiration and using them as a privileged means of expressing its expertise.
Because they speak to the mind and the heart, calendar complications have the ability to fire the imagination. By bringing them within reach of connoisseurs of fine objects, Jaeger-LeCoultre wanted the perpetual calendar and the moon phase to occupy the place they rightly deserve.
To embody the magnetic beauty of the sky, moon and stars, Jaeger-LeCoultre opted for materials directly related to its source of inspiration, such as meteorite stone, lapis lazuli and bordeaux aventurine. These rare and mysterious materials are an integral part in the design of the watches, while offering a singular experience through the energy and intensity they convey.
Calendar functions have long since been part of the watchmaking culture of the Grande Maison.
Pocket-watches first appeared in the 15th century as miniaturised versions of table clocks. From the late 19th century onwards, the so-called Grande Complication models housed three major complications: the perpetual calendar, the chronograph and the minute repeater.
Since then, inspired by the Earth’s movements and by calendar complications, Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmakers have provided sublime interpretations of the perpetual calendar in many of their watches. The latter have become dream objects for connoisseurs of fine craftsmanship eager to broaden their horizons so as to encompass the stars.
Above and beyond their utility, the very nature of all functions provided by Jaeger-LeCoultre is to offer the person wearing the watch an elegant scaled-down interpretation of the surrounding universe.
Each of its new creations is destined to make the heart of devotees of fine objects beat a little faster. They can thus eagerly look forward to discovering models such as the the Rendez-Vous Moon and the Master Calendar with meteorite stone dials.
